divaonthebridgeSooo, did you stuff yourself into oblivion for Thanksgiving?  Are you waiting for January to get (back) on track with your wellness goals?

Every year the holiday season – starting with Halloween and ending with New Year’s Eve – gets a number of us off track.  For me, because my bday is in February, I often find myself trying to tone and tighten around this time of year instead.

But this year, I’m really doing it.  No more failed resolutions. This time I have a specific, measurable goal with a deadline. I’ve decided to go from #bedtohalfmarathon in 14 weeks.  That’s right, bed.  Not a couch potato but a bed slug.  Can you relate? I’m one of those who loves. my. comfy. bed.  I come home from work, put on a t-shirt, get my laptop and jump in the bed.  Damned shame. LOL!

But things have changed.

A few weeks ago I hooked up with my local Black Girls Run group (after lurking on the page for about 3 years).  I remember when the organization started like 8 years or so ago as a blog.  I actually tried to run, about twice a year each year, and just never made it into a habit, until now.

Sometimes you’ve gotta put your money where your heart is.  Without giving it too much thought, I signed up for the Run Like a Diva half marathon in beautiful SoCal wine country, Temecula.  Since it happens to fall around the time of my birthday (February) I thought it would be perfect.  A far cry from last year’s Vegas birthday weekend, where all I did was eat, drink, shop and be merry.  I think the time is right for me to finally get this cute little marshmallow body firmed up.
