We’re back! And it was amazing, as expected.
Introducing the “Sedona Sisters” of 2018. These ladies have miraculously self selected into the perfectly blended group for the second year in a row. It was a weekend of laughter, learning and relaxation, and one I’m missing already. We’ve GOT to do this more often and we will. But more about that in a minute.
If you don’t know what this is about, this is Well Diva Weekend, the Self Care in Sedona edition. It is a time to get away – no kids, no men, no pets. Just you. You’re welcome to bring a friend, but I honestly think you’ll have an even better experience if you come alone, or at least grab one of the highly sought after single king rooms. It’s a chance to bond with yourself as well as make some new “sisters”. Sedona is such a magical beautiful place, just the right place and experience for a Diva to treat herself to.
Our beautiful time in Sedona started with some time spent getting to know exactly who we had along this time. A mother of 5, a nursing school student, an engineer are just a few of the ways these ladies identify themselves. A beautiful smile, a sisterly soul, a new leaf turner is who I came to know.
A highlight of the weekend is the Sedona Marathon. Half of the ladies participated in either the 5k or 10k. It’s a bit of a hilly course, but that pretty medal in the end makes it all worth the effort.
There’s plenty of me time, and the ladies took full advantage of it. I heard about vortex visits, trolley tours, and even some strange salt room story. I chose a massage with the little down time I created for myself. Note to self – next time add on a couple of days to really experience Sedona.
Once again, Zahra of The Natural Journey for Life showed us that she truly is a food scientist with all that knowledge displayed during her green smoothie session. And I shared some useful culinary techniques with the ladies during my cauliflower pasta demo. Note to self – a lot of people don’t like mushrooms. Who knew??
I think we can all agree that Sunday was just the most perfect day ever. We started early with a one of a kind yoga session called MARTaiYo taught by Marcia Leftwich, creator of MARTaiYo which stands for Mindful Awareness Routine of Tai Chi and Yoga. Love it! Always a perfect way to get centered and remember why we came to Sedona to begin with.
The weather was a sunny and beautiful 70 degrees in February, the birds were chirping, and Larry Lindahl our photographer was on point. Not by design, our chosen colors to wear for the photo shoot happened to perfectly match the red rocks that Sedona is so well known for. At the time Larry thought it wasn’t working. But looking at the photos, honey it worked like magic.
After our Fly Girls photo shoot we sat down to the most amazing brunch. And pomegranate mimosas. And I can’t stop thinking about that avocado toast. I now know what all the hype is about this $13 avocado toast. I praised God that day that I can tolerate sourdough bread so I could indulge in this fabulous dish. It sounds so simple, but tastes so gourmet. Take my word – it’s really, really good.
During brunch I had a chance to speak to the ladies on our theme for the weekend, happiness – what it is, how to create it, and how to develop it in your life.
So there you have it, happy, healthy fly. The Well Diva way. And of course I’m ready to do it all again.
The ladies have spoken, and Austin, Texas is the next stop. January 2019, MLK weekend. Will you be there? You can click here to join us at a whole new location with a slightly different theme. This time we will focus on cultivating a fit life. We’re talking about being fit on the inside and out. How well and healthy is your thought life? What about your skin, and what you feed it? Do you have a physical fitness routine that you can actually stick with? We’re hoping to even include financial fitness. January is the perfect time to create or tweak your fit lifestyle. Presenters are now being lined up (I’m looking for you) so details to come. But the ladies are already registering. Experience has shown them that a Well Diva Weekend is not something to be missed.
And as for Sedona – we love you dearly Sedona, and you can not be replaced. But we will hopefully return sometime down the road. Maybe I’ll go solo next year to finally get a chance to experience all the beauty of Sedona that the ladies love so much.
