Remember Well Diva Wednesday? Well, I’m trying to bring it back again by popular demand. I’ve met some amazing, awesome ladies over the past year and one by one, I’ll be sharing their inspiring stories and wisdom with you.
Starting with Aleisha Gasaway.
I met this delightful young lady on Facebook, of all places. We were both registered for Run Like a Diva Special Edition, Temecula back in February. Each of us happened to choose this race to celebrate our birthday. Somehow we started chatting on the event page, and the rest is Facebook friend history. Except she has become more than a Facebook friend. We connected in Temecula and have checked in with each other re: upcoming races every since. I guess you could say we are now run buddies, even though she lives over 2,000 miles away, and runs way faster than I do.
Aleisha caught my attention when she posted the pic above, mentioning her weight loss journey. Of course I just HAD to share it here. Her words below…
“I come from a family where diet and exercise was always important but as I settled into married life, my weight settled in its own way. In 2012 I tipped the scales at 166 pounds. Reading the words OBESE in my medical records was jarring, but most importantly when I reflected on how I “felt” I knew I had to make a change.
The constant fatigue and shortness of breath secondary to my increase in weight was not a figment of my imagination, but a real problem. My physical change came after joining a local gym, changing my daily eating habits and eventually hiring a personal trainer. Though I’m where I want to be weight wise, keeping my mentality in check is a constant battle. The last year I’ve grown an affinity for running, completing a plethora of 5K’s, 10K’s, and 2 half marathons. I don’t count calories but instead measure the quality of the food I put in my body. Bottom line, I’m just trying to be great. ”
Aleisha, Diva, you ARE great.
Do you know a lady striving to not just look well but live and be well too? Let me know about her so I can share her story.
Happy Well Diva Wednesday, Divas!
