buffetA couple of weekends ago I had the pleasure of hosting my first “Brunch Like a Well Diva” event at Whole Foods Market in Oakland. I cannot tell you how much fun we had. Ladies I hadn’t seen since the 80’s came out of the woodwork, and some new friends too. The menu was completely plant based – a scrambled tofu and sautéed veggie dish, a chai chia pudding, strawberries stuffed with a coconut mousse, slow roasted tomatoes, and savory butter free grits! Yes, butter, sugar, AND cheese free grits. Oh, and no refined white sugar or wheat was used in any of the dishes either. menupicAm I vegan? No. But this is the way I eat most of the time and I just wanted to take some time to educate my sisters on the importance of getting more plant based foods into our diet. I took this opportunity to demonstrate that good, healthy, plant based meals can be really delicious. Judging from the feedback, they agreed!

If you missed this, I feel sorry for you. I feel so sorry that I’m gonna do it again.

flowersI’ve talked with the ladies in charge of Whole Foods wellness area, and unless I can think of a reason to cook at Whole Foods sooner, it’s looking like a Thanksgiving theme is what’s up next.

Until then, I’ll be working on the long, long, LONG awaited Cook Like a Well Diva online cooking school. I cannot give a start date just yet, but if it’s humanly possible (between planning Well Diva Weekend and everything else in my life) I’m going to make it happen this year. Just make sure you click here to let me know you’d like to be notified when it starts. And let me know what you’d like to learn – more about eating healthy or more about cooking healthy, or both? What favorite has your doctor told you to replace with something healthier? Let me know what you’d like to see from a cooking school that you can attend from the comfort of your own home.

Were you at “Brunch Like a Well Diva”? Did you have a good time? Did you win a prize? What would you like to taste at the next event? Let me know in the comments below.
