This is the month that we focus on breast cancer prevention, honor the survivors and remember those we’ve lost. So what exactly will you be doing other than wearing your pink ribbon pin, or walking, or donating a few bucks? As time goes by and we lose more people, do you wonder if there is more that you can do? For my part, I just want to get the word out that, in case you haven’t heard, what you put in your mouth and what you let come out of your mouth can do more for protecting you from breast cancer than anything.
You know that whole green smoothie thing? Yeah, that helps with protecting your boobs. It’s the fiber. When we get 25 or more grams of fiber in our diet on a daily basis, that’s enough fiber to bind to excess estrogen and escort it out of the body through the digestive tract. When estrogen levels are higher than other sex hormones, the risk of breast cancer is increased, as well as the chance of being overweight and other problems. Add flaxseed, chia seeds, and berries to that smoothie to really get closer to the daily fiber goal of 25 grams per day. And get creative – red cabbage with strawberries, almond milk, chia seeds and a banana makes a wonderful high fiber pink smoothie!
Fresh and vibrant salads and other raw veggies along with the green smoothies provide a healthier carb option than starches like rice, bread and pasta. These healthier carb options help to decrease our overall body fat. Less body fat and more muscle reduces the chance of breast cancer. Combine a greener leafier diet with some light muscle building exercises and voila – you’ve got the perfect recipe for healthy breasts.
So what else can I do Renée, to avoid breast cancer? I’m glad you asked. You know that last argument you had with so-n-so? Let that ‘ish go. Your meditating on it and regurgitating it is making you sick. So stop it, right now. Find something better to focus on. Go buy yourself some beautiful flowers to focus on. That always works for me, and I’ve been through some stuff so believe me when I say I understand. But you have the power to change your focus and your own health. Talk it out with a friend, or even two, then quickly move on to better things. Your words are the most powerful thing you have, so make them work for you not against you. No need in making your own self sick.
A Well Diva is not just fly, but she is well in her spirit, mind and body. Life here on Earth is just too short to be dwelling on some bull that somebody else is causing. Where is the joy in that? And life is too short to eat crap. That zaps your energy, making you less useful to the world. It’s no wonder that eating garbage shortens your life. If you’re full of junk, you probably aren’t able to produce much that is useful so you might as well not even be here. Dang, that was kinda hard, huh? But it’s true. I mean if you really value yourself you’ll put the best into you, so you can get the best out. The truth might hurt, but it heals.
