WellDivaSedona

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Well Divas of Sedona.

We just completed the most amazing 4 day and 3 night wellness retreat. If we look like a million bucks, just imagine how we must feel.  I don’t even know where to begin.

I guess I’ll start with a bit of history. I’ve wanted to do a retreat for YEARS. Last year our Temecula weekend was somewhat of a retreat and sparked my old interest again. So I mentioned to a lady I was in line with at a Run Like a Diva expo that I was deciding between Temecula and Sedona. Her response was “absolutely Sedona… It’s so Serene”. Well of course I almost fainted because my angel baby girl is named Serene and the event was to take place on the weekend of her passing to honor her memory. How absolutely perfect.

And Sedona was just that. Serene, and beautiful, and amazing, and spiritual. With it being in Arizona our team had a bit of “race related” concerns. I will say that in the planning of this event, yes, I ran into what felt like blatant “we don’t want you here” from a couple of idiots who obviously didn’t block our blessing. But the people of Sedona were nothing but nice, sometimes unusually friendly, but always warm.

Now about the Well Divas of Sedona, these ladies rock. Representing Colorado, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Tennessee, Michigan, New Jersey, and California, the group came together like a reunion of long lost sisters, although most of them just met for the first time. We laughed, we cried, we wined and dined, we juiced, cooked, hiked, ran, stretched, toured, learned, and left so much richer.

pitaiyoOur happy weekend was full of healthy options, such as our juicing session with the amazing Zahra of The Natural Journey for Life and Marcia who taught us the little known art of Pitaiyo. I hosted my Brunch Like a Well Diva demo, and one of the ladies even put together a Superbowl viewing party.

The fly part of the weekend was our photo shoot, courtesy of Larry Lindahl, an amazing Arizona photographer who we hope will join us again. Because you can’t be a Diva without being fly. The ladies Diva’d up, and showed up looking fabulous and camera ready.

It was a beautiful sight to sWellDivaSedona_Lindahl-8120ee.  A special thanks to Penelope of Penelope Robinson Photography for jumping in to assist Larry by coordinating the ladies poses. Yes, I asked her to be our photographer before I reached out to Larry. Yes, she told me no. LOL!

So I think it’s safe to say we all returned home happy, healthy, and feeling pretty fly. Oh, and don’t let me forget to mention our amazing sponsors. We were taken care of from head to toe with the items shared with us by a number of companies, many of them owned by black women.

One more thing about Sedona. This beautiful city is named after Sedona Arabella Miller Schnebly, a pioneer woman who’s husband founded the city and named it after her. Sedona, too, lost a daughter. And her birthday is the day after mine. Can I call her my sister in spirit?

Lots and lots of time, planning, and heart went into this. Would I do it again? Of course! Registration is open for the next Well Diva Weekend in Napa Valley. But space is limited, so when I say let’s go, you better be ready to go! Keep in mind this one sold out in 6 days. So what do you think? Will I see you at the next one?
